- Nutritionally they are high in fibre, B vitamins and quite a few minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and zinc). They help in digestion, heart health and immune health. As well as a rich source of manganese which important for bone health and blood clotting.
- They are usually used in baked goods such as cakes, muffins, bread and bagels. But, I just love them in salads either whole or ground up into a paste.
- They will keep for up to 24 months if you store them away from direct sunlight in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. If you live in a hot and humid climate then I strongly suggest you keep your poppy seeds in the fridge.
