Legume and Pulse Salads
This category incorporates the most common types pulses dry beans, lentils, chickpeas and dry peas as well as legumes such as green beans and peas.
Legumes are any plants that grow in pods while the term “pulse” refers to the dry edible seed in the pod.
Legumes are soybeans, peanuts, fresh peas and fresh beans. Pulses are dry beans, dry peas, lentils and chickpeas.
Pulses differ from legumes in that they are low in fat and are very high in protein and fibre.
